How to Read This Chart

What does "C" (Current) mean?
"C" means all priority dates are current for that category and country — no backlog exists. Anyone with an approved petition may proceed immediately, regardless of when their priority date was established.
Final Action Dates vs. Dates for Filing?
Final Action Dates is the controlling chart — a visa can only be issued when your priority date precedes this date. Dates for Filing allows early I-485 submission when USCIS authorizes it, but does not guarantee a visa is available yet.
What is my priority date?
Your priority date is the date USCIS received your petition — I-130 for family-based cases, or the I-140 (or PERM filing date) for employment-based cases. Find it on your I-797 receipt or approval notice.
Why did my priority date retrogress?
Retrogression occurs when applicants with earlier dates in a country/category exceed that year's visa allocation. The State Department adjusts cut-off dates monthly to stay within the statutory 7% per-country annual cap.
